Good GPU for Around ~$250?

So I originally wanted to pick up one of Nvidia's Maxwell-based GPUs when they came out, but as in the title, I wanted something around $250. And the 970 is a bit too much for me. I was hoping for the GTX 960 to come out around November. But most rumors are suggesting it won't come out until as late as March of 2015. So I've decided I'll settle for something else.

However, my main concern is how effective the card will be in the future. In particular, I was worried about future games requiring more VRAM. Many games this year, such as Titanfall, Watch Dogs, and Shadow of Mordor are demanding anywhere from 3-6 GB of VRAM. I can only imagine what the next 3-4 years will bring.

So I'm undecided between these 3 cards. Also feel free to suggest others.

Sapphire Radeon R9 285: Newest card of these 3, but has the least amount of VRAM.
XFX R9 280X: Has more VRAM, but is older and lacks several features compared to the R9 285, such as Mantle support.
EVGA GeForce GTX 760 (4 GB version): Has the most VRAM, but has slightly less performance according to most benchmarks.

The rest of my specs: (My PC was built 4 years ago. I've already upgraded the Motherboard, CPU, and RAM. The GPU and PSU are next)

Motherboard: ASUS M5A99X
CPU: AMD FX-6300
GPU: Geforce GTS 250
RAM: 8 GB (2x4GB) 1600 MHz
PSU: 700 Watt "generic" brand (I've already picked out a Cooler Master V-series, 550w or 650w, that I'll order alongside my GPU)

Or maybe I'm too concerned about VRAM? I'll be gaming in 1080p, but I'm worried that modern games will demand higher and higher amounts of it in the next few years.

Thanks in advance.
