Hi,

I'm having issues where my MOBO seems to be sending full power to my chassis fans, and Asus suite isn't recognizing them, nor are they recognized in my BIOS. These chassis fans weren't attached to my MOBO when I built the system. Therefore, I was wondering if I would have to re-install my OS so as they would be recognized and could have some control over them. (I only have one chassis fan running at the moment as there is too much noise with them both going)

The one that I do have attached is onto my CPU_OPT header, and this was slowing my chassis fan speed a little bit, but now, for some reason, it's going full speed again - and the noise is doing my head in, lol.

Thanks for any help!

Solution
three pin power fans are controlled by voltage. in asus efi bios go under fans and set the low fan speed to 100. the default is 600 so the fans wont go slower then 600 rpm. also set them to quiet or off under the same fan speed settings. the case fans should only turn on when the case hits a set temp.

I just checked in uefi bios and its showing chassis_fan 1 to be really erratic, i.e going from like 35000 rpm (yes, 35 thousand, lol) to zero and other random large numbers, not sure why this would be? In thermal radar its showing it hitting 8750 rpm, lowest its going is 5000rpm (but also hits 0rpm), i don't know what to make of this lol.
