gtx 970/980 vs 770 sli

Solution
The 770 SLI will beat a GTX 980.

However a single GPU will require less power, produce less heat, and produce smoother game play.

Benefits to SLI:
Higher FPS
Lets you play on higher graphics settings and resolution

Negative for SLI:
More power
More heat
Microstutter
Not all games scale that well
Driver problems (usually fixed in a few days though)

Sli produces lot of heat. You need to have a good cpu case with proper air flow system. At least 3 to 4 fan (2 at front side and 2 at back side). Plus i think you need to have a good power supply. I dnt knw exactly how much watt but to be on the safe side buy a 1000 watt power supply.

Buying a single card of gtx 970 will do good. If u r using a 4k monitor buy the gtx 980. Save some money to buy another card of gtx 970 or gtx 980 later.

^This guy is a IDIOT......Sli does not produce more heat, Sli produces half the heat of a single gpu set up.......and the largest psu you need today is a 850watt psu for any Sli configuration.....
Listen to Sli owners, like me, who actually run 2x 770 SC ACX Sli.
Here's the benchmarks to help you decide-
Metro LL highest settings-

My 2x 770 SC ACX sli same settings-

Tomb Raider- highest settings-

My 2x 770 SC ACX Sli same settings +TressFX enabled(they did not enable TressFX in above benchmark)

As you can clearly see the 980GTX just doesn't cut it, 770 Sli kills a 980GTX in any game, at any resolution......

Solution
I do love CF & SLI, BUT, I'd Never Start out with a dual card setup if a current single card was Faster. Single cards use less power, easier to cool, and Never have driver issues. If you already Had one card, different story adding a second is usually a good choice.

In this case the GTX 770 is also officially discontinued (as are 780 and 780Ti).

I go with the single GTX 980 should get the job done on 1080P and if you goto 1440P you can always add another 980....

I had gtx 770 sli and psu 750w and was working perfect. I sell them and get gtx 980. flashed bios from here http://www.overclock.net/t/1517316/extract-and-flash-gtx-970-and-980-firmware-nolimits-and-gamestable and results are much better than it was at gtx 770 sli. Did't test on lot games but on tombraider everything maxed on 2560x1080 with gtx 770 sli I get 59 fps and now get 70 fps. unigine hevaen get 54 fps 770 sli and now get 59 fps. maybe some other games say other but for me gtx 980 work better than 770 sli.
