Hi all.

I have two laptops both under 1 year old but one of them seems to have a problem with the keeping the wifi speed. I've got 25/5Mbit and the one laptop keeps a steady 22/4.5 Mbit while the other laptop differs in speed ranging from 0.5-22Mbit in download speed. The upload is always a steady 4.5Mbit.

If I test the bad laptop in a speedtest online I can see the speed go up high fast then down to a few Mbit and then up again over and over again and I usally end up with an average of aroung 6-7Mbit.

Anyone got any idea to what might cause this?

Different laptops may have different built in wifi adapters. Also their positioning will also affect the connection strength they get. Naturally a laptop that is closer to the router will get a better signal. Objects that block line of sight between the router and laptop, like walls, will weaken signal strength.

I have put a cable between the laptops and the bad one now has 15-22Mbit instead which is much better but the other one still has 22Mbit all the time.

The bad laptop has a Qualcomm Atheros AR9485WB-EG network adapter and the other has a Qualcomm Atheros AR956x.
