Should i update my bios if i am updating my os?

I've been using my hp probook4530s for almost about 2 years with windows 7 and i am planning to format it completely and perform a clean installation of windows 8.1. There is a new update of bios but i want to know if i should update my bios or not?

My bios version is 'BIOS Version/Date Hewlett-Packard 68SRR Ver. F.23, 3/9/2012'

No, you do not need to flash (update) your BIOS unless there's a hardware compatibility issue.

It isn't needed but having your BIOS updated is always recommended.

OP, no worries, glad to help.
bsod1, no it is NOT recommended to update BIOS unless you absolutely need it. If not done correctly, it can render your MoBo unusable.
