Hi guys, this is a rather stupid question but I just want to double check. I have a GA-H61M-DS2V motherboard, and I'm planning on upgrading to 8 GB's of RAM on Monday. Now, I know that my motherboard only supports up to 16GB of DDR3 memory at 1333mhz, but I have this friend that gave me some RAM a while back and it never worked. He claimed that the RAM was functional but all I got was 2 beeps and then the computer kept resetting. The RAM was apparently (Reading from the label) The elixir brand and the specs are 4GB.2Rx8 PC3-10600U-9-10.B0.1333. I expected it to work but it never did, no idea why.

I plan to order this RAM on Monday; http://www.pccomponentes.com/corsair_value_select_ddr3_1333_8gb_2x4gb_cl9.html

I've checked all the speeds, etc, so in theory the RAM should be compatible. I'd love to get some help guys, thanks for your time.

Solution
For the elixir brand RAM, you can try to manually set the timing and speed in the BIOS if you can boot in the BIOS, otherwise nothing you can do.

If you will buy the new RAM, get the better one because the Corsair Value Select RAM is not the best one, it is the basic one.

You are better to buy like:
G.Skill Ripjaws DDR3 1333 PC3-10666 http://www.pccomponentes.com/g_skill_ripjaws_ddr3_1333_pc3_10666_8gb_2x4gb_cl7.html
or Kingston HyperX Fury White DDR3 1333MHz http://www.pccomponentes.com/kingston_hyperx_fury_white_ddr3_1333mhz_8gb_2x4gb_cl9_reacondicionado.html
or even 1600mhz and the RAM will run at 1333mhz too.
Like G.Skill Ares DDR3 1600 PC3-12800 8GB...

There shouldn't be any compatibility with the Ripjaws and my motherboard, right? I'll be sure to pick that RAM up otherwise :). Thanks man.
