hi guys, i was wondering as im building a new pc and being reasonably undecided on graphics card still, i was wondering is the 7970 still a good card? i can find it for £118 (used) in comparison to the £146 for a r9-280x (refurbished), which one is worth my money?

Solution
That solely depends on what the R9 280X was used for before, who the seller is and is the seller trustworthy with the product and the "warranty". It may stop working after 3 months, it may not. It is a risk that you can take or someone else will.
Right now, I wouldn't get either as I planing to get the GTX 970 or possibly a R9 380X later on.

the refurbished 280x comes with a 3 month warranty if that helps in anyway? i mean isnt the 280x far far superior the the 280 so wouldnt it be more for my money to get the 280x for less?

The R9 280X isn't that faster than a R9 280 overlocked. If you don't want overlocking, then you could get the refurbished R9 280X but it is a 3 month warranty compared to a year.

well the 280x for that price is the sapphire vapor-x, Tri-x OC edition so its pre over-clocked so again would that make a difference to your opinion or would you still say the 280? surely if nothing goes wrong within 3 months then nothing is likely to go wrong right?
