If i put in 3 sticks of ram will it decrease the performance?

Solution
If the mobo does support "flex mode", your 2 sticks of RAM would work in dual channel and the 1 stick will work in single channel
However, running in single channel literally halves memory bandwidth so I would not recommend any sticks in single channel.

If the board doesn't support "flex mode", all the RAM will run in single channel mode which will be a decrease in performance in comparison to 2 stick in dual channel.

Personally though, I'd never have an odd number of RAM sticks in dual channel as it can lead to stability issues like BSOD's and/or random restarts, etc...
