when i overclock one of my 280x's its fine but when i apply that same profile to the 2nd card, it crashes the whole machine as soon as i try to run something. what gives? is it a heat problem? the cards are asus by the way so im using gpu tweak to overclock them. please help

Solution
what? lol, no no 2 gpu's are the same just like no two cpu's are the same, each one will be different in temperature tolerances, voltage, leakage etc.
Lets say one gpu will run 1,1ghz without any voltage increase while the other will need say 0.3v more for the same 1,1ghz or it you aren't as lucky in silicon lottery it will never reach that 1,1ghz no matter what you do, this is just an example but its what is happening, in sli and cf you will always be limited to the speed of weakest gpu...
