I old days the difference between i5 and i7 was 0.1 Ghz and hyperthreading
Now, the 4790k id 4.0 Gz / 4.4 Ghz with hyperthreading and the 4690k id 3.5 Gz / 3.9 Ghz with no hyperthreading.
So whereas the i7 used to be attractive to only those who needed HT for certain applications and those who wanted that extra 0.1 Ghz, now the i7 is also attractive to those who don't OC since it's 14% faster.
