My computer recently got new parts (new motherboard, graphics card and processor) and my friends recently claimed that my computer is a lot worse at games than it should be considering my friend who only has a "gt 650m" graphics card seems to be able to play on higher graphics than me.
But i still want to hear it from more people. in general shouldn't the "asus gtx 650" be able to play games like borderlands the pre-sequel, dead island riptide, sanctum 2 or chivalry on the highest? because thats what my friends state.

You have the recommended psu and use the best pci slot on your board? If not you could stand to lose a little performance but not very noticeable. Chart here:

What is it that you are noticing the most about your cards that shows a lack of performance?

Well i guess it is a very good time to mention that i have 2 monitors. but if this is the case then i just need better gpu right?
But correct me if i'm wrong but isn't gpu a part of the actual graphics card forcing me to get a new one?
I have my main monitor which is 1920 x 1080.
And then i have my second monitor which is 1920 x 1080 as well.
But of what ive heard having to monitors only weakens the pc a tiny bit.
My friend whit the gt 650 card also has two screens btw.

So your pretty much just saying that i should get an even better graphics card? theres no other way? becouse i dont buy that. i just want to point out that i have always had a monitor that was 1920 x 1080 and when i had my old graphics card i could play something like borderlands 2 on highest but one random week my pc started to become worse from there on it would become even worse every week. i then tryed to to get a motherboard, a new processor and a new graphics card which is what im using now and my pc is still worse than when i first got it. (i just want to specify that my old graphics card was a fucking geforce gt 650 which shouldnt be much compared to asus gtx 650)

I just dont understand if its the fact that my graphics card basicly isnt good enough then i still dont understand how my simple "geforce gt 650" can handle games better than my "asus gtx 650"
and ive looked on gpu info in asus gpu tweak and my gpu is apparently "gk107" if that helps in any way becouse i really dont believe its becouse my graphics card isnt good enough

Just using the monitors to surf the web takes almost no gpu power yes.

GAMING on 2 1080p monitors takes a LOT more power than a gtx 650.

The higher the resolution the more work the gpu needs to do.

Your gpu is weak to start with you are asking too much if you want to play games on 2 monitors at 1080p.

Ok but will disabling the second monitor while playing help alot? because of what ive heard using a second monitor should only weaken the pc a tiny bit.

When you play on two monitors, your graphics card needs to process twice as much information. It'll be much slower.
Even though you friend has two monitors, that does not mean that his graphics cards are processing the same amount of data. If his two monitors each ran at a resolution of 1366 x 768 while your monitors ran at 1920 x 1080, his graphics cards would only have to process data for 20981176 pixels while your graphics cards would have to process data for 4147200 pixels. Basically your cards have to do twice as much work.

Another thing to consider is that a 650 is nowhere near strong enough to max out games with two 1080p displays. It would struggle maxing out a game with only one of your displays. You would need a GTX 970 for two 1080p monitors.

Just checking: You are using a desktop, right?

EDIT: Disabling the second monitor would help. Then your graphics cards would only have to process half the number of pixels.

If you are only gaming on 1 monitor, with the 2nd monitor just showing desktop stuff, then you do not need to disable it. Just don't try to use 2D Surround across both monitors at once.

But as everyone has stated, a GT 650 is not a strong card, and will not play many/most games at max settings at 1080p, at least not with good FPS. Though old enough games, and some indie games may be fine. A GT 650 is a low end gaming card. It is not going to give you high end graphics settings on current games.

Yes i am using a desktop. but do you think using only one monitor that i will be able to play a game like borderlands 2 on max? (or at least somewhat the highest settings)

Edit: if i could i would gladly just test it out but i do not have it installed and my internet is a bit fucked for the moment so it'l take a lot of time to install

Thanks this actually helped quite a lot i didn't realize that having a second monitor would lower the quality of my games that much. i am going to start saving money to get a better pc that will have a gtx 970 gaming 4GB after getting that i should have no problem playing any of the games i mentioned on highest right? even whit two monitors?

Not many games on two monitors is going to stress a gtx 970 but it is possible with 2 monitors or say 4k monitor and ryse of rome or maybe shadow of mordor set for the best possible graphics. But other then that you will be fine on that card

this post is a bit confusing.. even though i have read the entire thread im still confused about your problem.. the first question i have is what machines do you and your friend have.. what is the entire spec of your machine and what is the entire spec of your friends machine.. if you were running identical machines then this post would make sense.. but i suspect there are substantial differences in both specs.. until the specs are written down for us all to see it makes no sense to propose any solution.

Well my friend has a laptop whit a gt 650 graphics card.
He also has two monitors where the second monitor is an actual tv and keep in mind he doesn't turn the second monitor off when gaming. i don't really know more about his spec.
He can play borderlands 2 on highest

But my spec is
Asus gtx 650
Quad core intel(r) core(tm) i5-4460
EPS 750w power supply
16gb ram
I use two 1920 x 1080 monitors (i turn the second off when gaming)
and i was unable to find the name of my motherboard.
And i cannot play borderlands 2 on the highest. (keep in mind that i literely played payday 2 on medium settings yesterday and today i can only play it on the lowest which i dont understand)
