The usb ports function and devices will work. However, I regularly see a message saying "This device could function faster in a USB 2.0 port. The enhanced ports show in Device Manger, as well as Composite Device for each connected device, and Root Hub entries. The latter two total to the number of enhanced ports. Some devices function poorly if they need a 2.0 port.
