FPS drops in games

Hey Guys,

As the title states I'm getting weird frame rate drops at random moments in my games (WoW, BF4 and Borderlands mainly).

I'm pretty sure it's not a heat issue (I recently cleaned my fan filters which did help bring temps back down but at worst they were at 58C and now mid 40s) but I'm still getting the drops.

I know Nvidia put out some driver updates recently so I'm wondering if that could be the cause?

I've only had my 770 since January and the issue has only been happening in the past few weeks.

It feels like my card is all of a sudden struggling but 15 seconds later goes back to normal.

If it helps I use Fraps in game FPS counter (so I know the drops are random) and HWMonitor to check temps etc.

Any ideas?

Specs are:

i5 4670K
8 GB Ram
GTX 770
H75 cooler
650w psu

All drivers are latest and updated straight away.

I took the side panel off after I cleaned my filters and there isn't much if any dust inside the tower so I'm not sure it's a dust issue

I've started using Afterburner and I haven't had any issues so far. No frame drops in any games and I put a few hours on Borderlands without any issues.

Not sure if fraps was causing a problem but it makes more sense to use Afterburner instead of fraps because of all the monitoring I can do.

It was a bit weird because Borderlands is more resource heavy than WoW but I mainly had the issues in WoW which makes me think it's that game causing problems. Borderlands was completely stable.
