This is my 1st build and I'm using the AMD 7850k APU along with this board. All of the usb3's worked at first, then quit. During the process of later installing an R7-250 graphics card, they worked for a short time, but then quit again. My device manager shows 3 unknown devices and when I click on their properties and go into details, the 1st one is ultimately identified as "AMD usb 3.0 host controller,so I'm assuming my problem lies within this controller. I'm pretty sure I have everything set up right in the BIOS w/everything being updated. When I google the vendor and device info, I get led on the 'ol goose chase. Can anyone offer a solution.

I reinstalled the latest chipset drivers from Asus that I have stored on a flash drive.Didn't seem to have any effect. Also, should I see Asmedia XHCI controller in system devices?

Yes, ASMedia should show up. this is the USB 3.0 controller. In "Device Manager" under Universal Serial Bus controllers, make certain the driver(s) is installed and that it is functioning properly.

i too, have the same problem with the a88x plus motherboard... and i do have a solution for you. i am not happy with asus and will probably choose a different brand next time.. we both followed the instructions and correctly used the install disk. when that failed i went to the asus website to download the latest drivers... my first discovery was that this motherboard does not use the asmedia usb system, so dont bother with that download... it seams the usb3 drivers are in the chipset download and i located that and clicked on "global" to download it .... "global" is corporate speak for "download" . asus is telling you that they dont speak your language, when you come to them you should not expect a user friendly experience. and the chipset download progressed i noticed it would take 2 days to download... yes, 2 days on my high speed connection... that is because the size of the file is 2.5 gigs... something is wrong here. i just need a couple of megs of driver data for my usb and asus has it bundled in a dvd size mattress... not so customer friendly... i could install a driver utility that would search all my components and download the drivers in about 20 minutes.. but i still think for the price i paid asus that they could produce a driver disk that would work as well as MSI motherboards do... sometimes the value is not in the price you pay or the physical features you receive. value from asus is missing for the ease of use and arrogant web presentation they offer as support.. i like my asus laptops but i wont buy another motherboard or recommend them... ok, back to the solution.....by this time i see how sloppy things are presented to the asus customer and i wanted to take a second look at the driver disk... i think they threw a bunch of drivers and instructions together and figured if it worked in the lab, it will work in the market... wrong! open the driver disk with windows explorer.. locate the directory Bin64. open that directory and click on setup.exe.. that will setup the correct chipset that will install the usb3 drivers for win 7 64bit.
