I recently powered down my desktop for a cleaning. I unplugged all external cables only. I opened the case and sprayed for dust. When I finished dusting I put the panels back on and hooked all the cables back up. Now I don't have a signal. Since I've built the PC, I've been using a 27 inch vizio TV for my monitor via HDMI. I even took my desktop to my brother n laws and used a HDMI cable and a DVI cable. I still didn't get a signal. I opened the case back up and double checked that I didn't disconnect anything. I even removed the GPU and reinstalled it. The computer powers on, stays on and all the fans work. I just can't get a signal. I am completely lost. Before I take the PC in for a check up, I figured I'd ask on here and hopefully save some money. Running windows 8.1. My video card is an AMD Radeon HD 7800.

do you see anything or is it just black screen from start up? have you tried the onboard video does that work. check your bios and make sure your video isnt defaulted to onboard. my friend fried a 7800 before maybe its dead. if it is i would recommend getting a new (used card) i just bought one off craigslist 280x for 170 bucks cash still under warranty. go grab one before they are gone

My TV just says no signal. I can't check any setting cause I can't see anything lol. The GPU is working I would assume. I was just using it last night for gaming. The fan spins as well. As for on board video, I'm not sure what that is.

if your motherboard has onboard video it will have secondary display connection (vga dvi or hdmi) on the back by the usb ports. plug your monitor in there. if there is only dvi or vga back there you need to find a compatible monitor.

if it comes on then press del or f2 when you start your computer to get into the bios. from there your gonna have to look for onboard video settings.

ok forget my last post you dont have a onboard video. you have 2 options test the card on another computer or borrow a card to test. either way youll figure out if its your mb thats dead or the card.

you can fry a card if you touch it if your not grounded properly. its not common these days but it can happen. you dont even have to feel a spark

first try some contact cleaner in hdmi plug. just make sure the computer is completely unplugged before you do and dont plug it back in for at least 10 mins for the cleaner to evaporate

I'll try removing the CPU. It shouldn't be a problem I mean I did build the PC :) I'll check the GPU again and make sure it's not fried. The motherboards light is working. I was grounded and never even touched it when I cleaned. If this don't work I'm just gonna take it in.
