Does bluetooth work on Toshiba Sattelite L500-00W?

My Toshiba satellite L500 says Bluetooth is unavailable. I have windows 7. There is no Bluetooth icon in my "hidden icons" box to access settings. I can find the Bluetooth 'fsquirt' file, but when I use it, it says "an address incompatible with the requested protocol was used". I have spent hours tweeking and looking around to figure out how to turn it on. It will not recognize any Bluetooth device I have, and they are all checked to be found. any ideas?

Do you have Bluetooth adapter installed in your laptop? Many laptops bearing same model number have different options, so your particular unit might or might not have the necessary hardware installed.

Open "Device Manager", and see whether you have Bluetooth adapter there. It might be also turned off by a hotkey (in same manner as WiFi can be turned off).
