Everything booted up fine, Windows 8 installed, set up my user account.

The last thing remaining is of course the graphics card, which is a Radeon r9 280 in my case. I have the Sapphire brand, it's a big card:

Graphics:

Power Supply:

Anyways, when I go to try to put it in, i find that it is nearly impossible to connect the 6-pin power connectors while it is in. So I took it back out.

Then I tried putting it in with the 6-pin power connectors already in, but to no avail........ the DVD-drive "blocks" the forward end of the video card from coming down fully. The power supply cables seem very "thick", so they don't really give or bend much. Considering this is a mini-ITX, i don't have much space to work with. What do I do? I just can't seem to squeeze in BOTH psu cables to the case while also plugging the 2 6-pin connectors to the video card. Should I return it and, buy a "mini-ITX" card?

Also, I notice that the PSU cable has two 6-pin connectors on the same cable....... is it possible to just use one cable with 2 6-pin connectors to power the whole card? I've been trying to squeeze two PSU-to-PCIE cables in, but it is an absolute pain. Every little bit of saved space helps.

Here are the pics of the current obstacle to being "done" with this:

Thanks in advance, i would REALLY like to be done with this tonight.

Also, hate to break it to you, but you're going to regret having that card in there. Unless your ambient temp is pretty low, you'll find that the open air cooler just recirculates heat all day inside your case and you'll be lucky to stay under 80c when gaming with fans on max. I had a ACX cooler 780 (similar TDP to the 280) in my Elite 130, and I ended up swapping it for a Titan cooler to help lower both GPU and CPU temps. If swapping out that card for something with a blower cooler isn't an option then you could always mount an AIO cooler with a low profile bracket (Kraken G10 doesn't fit this case).

What do you mean by "open air cooler"? Do you mean the graphics card cooler is not very good?

I tried a couple more times and wasn't able to squeeze it in........ the graphics card by itself fits just fine, it's just those damned power connectors that won't squeeze "under" the DVD drive no matter how hard i try. Tried squeezing them in "over" from the left, but no-go either......... it's just really awkward and cramped.

Anyways, i've decided to take your guys advice and simply send it back for a smaller card................ i literally just un-boxed it today, so it is in pretty much new condition.

Thankfully i have "Newegg premier", so it shouldn't be too long before i get an exchange for a smaller card.

Sucks........ wanted to be gaming this weekend but it looks like i'll have to wait til next weekend. Well, i do have Intel hd 4600, i guess i can play some Minecraft or Hearthstone to hold me over til then.

And another thing?? AMD did not include the complimentary DVI cable with the r9 280!! :ange: Two years ago when i bought my hd 7850 it came with the customary basic DVI cable, but it seems they've gone cheap or something. It's just common courtesy to include all the necessary cables with your product(s), they pull this again i'm switching to Nvidia.

Unbelievable and simply unacceptable :fou:, i had to run out late Friday night to Best Buy to buy their hugely over-priced DVI-D cable (the next best thing). Gonna have to return it once my Amazon order comes in. I guess the lesson to be learned is do your due diligence before buying anything.

I mean that it's an open cooler that dumps heat into the case instead of exhausting it out the back the way a closed-shroud blower cooler would.

Also, neither AMD nor Nvidia have anything to do with what comes in the package, so I don't know why you think it's up to them to include cables. On top of that, almost no vendor includes them either, at best, they include adapters to do DVI-VGA or miniDP-DP, but that's about it. It's monitor manufacturers who include the necessary cables to use their products.
