SATA HDD(s) disappear when PC rebooted with USB HDD connected.

As the title says, I'm losing 1 or more HDDs when rebooting my PC with a USB HDD attached.
Windows boots without issue, but I'm always missing at least 1 HDD.

I have 4 HDDs, 1 SSD, and 1 USB HDD attached at all times.
The SSD is my boot drive, and never goes "missing".

If I reboot without the USB HDD connected, then all the HDDs show up. I can then reconnect the USB HDD without any issue.

The USB HDD is USB 3.0, but I've seen it happen with USB 2.0 external drives as well.

Suggestions?

Are these external HDDs powered by your system or by external power supplies?

Too many USB devices drawing power from a system can cause similar issues. It is logical that eSATA devices could do the same.

What are the specs (make/model of all components) for this system? How many of these devices are external (USB and eSATA)?

Here is some information about my system. All HDDs and the ODD are internal.
There is only 1 USB HDD, and 1 USB adapter for a wireless keyboard.

Power should be good. Have you noticed if one drive fails to get recognized more than others? Or is it random?

Have you checked your SATA cable connectors (both ends) or swapped any cables?

Thinking about it, I suppose it could be a specific drive or two that this is happening to...I'll have to check.
