I have 8GB 2x4 g.skill sniper series. My birthday is in 3 weeks and I was gonna ask for another 8GB of the same RAM and I would use all 4 slots for 16GB. Or should I buy 16GB 2x8 of g.skill sniper series and use 4 slots for 24GB it would still be dual channel one channel with 8GB and another with 16GB. Is it fine doing this?

The man needs RAM; more RAM is better than not enough RAM, especially when it sounds like he will be doing some professional work. It is your birthday too! .. but since you mentioned "asking" for more RAM, I suppose the determining factor is how much the person you're asking wants to spend. ;)

using 16GB or 24GB is WAY overkill dude. 8 is way more than enough for modern gaming and for editing softwares. But first you would have to check and see if your motherboard will support that much RAM, most will support 8gb, 16gbs, 32gbs or 64gb. It would be possible if your motherboard allows that much RAM

Dedicating a lot to games while playing. if I have 24GB will dedicate 12GB to minecraft.

Games do not use that much RAM. Adding another 8GB will not make Minecraft run any better.

24gbs is pretty much outrageous...But to answer your initial question, Yes, you can do this as long as your motherboard supports that much RAM, check your boards specs or post it here and i'll do it for you.

PS: No game will take up more then 4GBs RAM, I would only recommend 8gb if you are using editing software...

I might get 16GB because Im gonna be rendering videos while also recording/streaming. I will be dedicating 8GB of it to minecraft while streaming it. It may not effect Frames that much but it can raise it by another 100-150 and also make streaming better.
