Inexperienced builder with a lot of questions.

Solution
Use PCPartPicker.com for compatibility, for now:

-Motherboard and CPU incompatible, if you want the same CPU you'd want a Z77 chipset board with the LGA-1155 socket, get a cheaper Z97 board for an ix 4xx0k/even cheaper Z87 board for an ix 4x70k
-RAM horribly expensive, there is barely any benefit from increased speed, you should get 16GB of 1600MHz-1866MHz for the same price
-This GPU will perform similarly to the one you chose: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127774&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=

Your CPU is socket 1155 and motherboard socket 1150, you need to be looking at Haswell or Haswell refresh processors (i5 4670k or 4690k), your video card is good, but last generation too and you might want to look at a GTX 970 or GTX 980.

Overall you build is fine. Your memory is overkill. Intel recommends a max of 1600 Mhz.
check this out.
You can purchase high quality ram at normal height and be able to add a decent aftermarket cooler like a
Coolermaster Hyper 212 Evo.
I assume you are going to stress your cpu and possibly overclock

Check here for memory recommendation from Intel.

This is some good quality low CL Timing memory.

I can recommend a different color that is good.

If ya only gonna give one or the other (part names or links) use part names. Don't wanna get RSI doing all the clicks

-CPU is 2 generations past, the current 4690k is same exact price

-GPU is last generation but water cooled, I'd argue against the last generation thing but water cooling ability is a big plus at that price. If ya get this cooler, then I'd say the water cooled 780 is better / cheaper alternative than a current generation 970. Here's the cooler(s) ya want. of keeping the Poseidon

http://www.swiftech.com/H240-X.aspx

Otherwise, Id get an air cooler (Phanteks PH-TC14-PE color matched to case), low profile RAM and a MSI GTX 970

-No ROI on the 266 RAM....twice as much 2133 with better timings at $30 more or $40 less for same 8GB

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820226505

-Stay away from anything Green no matter who makes it.

-Stay away from anything for Corsair with a "C" or "R" in the model name.
$60 G1 EVGA has 10 year warranty .... its older than the G2 but great price
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817438026

-Unique looking case so if that's the reason, got nothing to say ... but I'd do a White Phanteks Pro

Need a cooler. No sense paying for a k series processor if ya ain't gonna OC.... with the Poseidon, it's screaming out for water cooling. The Swiftech coolers will do that

1 x Swiftech Cooler ~ 140
1 x 240mm rad ~ $55
1 x Swiftech MCP pump Adapter ~ $5
4 x Swiftech barbs - $16
4 x Swiftech clamps - $8
3' Swiftecj Black PVC 3/8" ID tubing ~$5

Water cooling is over priced for something that a Hyper 212 Evo can do just as well or maybe even better.

A Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo is all anyone would need for now in days gaming and video editing, Anything else like water cooling is just for flashiness and bragging rights...

Thank you! This is only one of a couple options. Obviously, this will be used mainly for gaming and I chose intel because i believe its better for gaming but if AMD has a negligible performance difference for a smaller price then i would gladly save the money. My main problem right now is finding a set up that will play new games without problems while staying within a reasonable budget.
