Hi all,

I have been using amd 8350 on asus m5a97 evo.after few problems I got my mobo repaired by the service center and assembled it recently..

I use photoshop usually all the time.. After the repair I'm facing this problem, the whole system shuts down after few mins I opened photoshop.. Otherwise it'll work sometime around an hour and shuts down automatically..

I assume this is a heating problem.. I use the stock cooler came with 8350. Due to the mobo repair I kept the heat sink and 8350 separate.. Does this cause the thermal gel in the heat sink to dry out?? Can I buy fresh thermal gel and apply on my own??

Any help appreciated..

Update: I've been monitoring the system thru asus bios utility.. My mobo voltage starts with 2.880v and is in red.. And CPU fan speed gradually increases to extreme end above 6000 rpm..

My gpu status:

Acc to me, I think if the problem is with thermal gel, these sensor reading may be wrong? Am I right??
Does this reading prove any point??

Your CPU temp there is fine.

In the photo it shows "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter".... This could mean windows is not recognizing the card and its drivers... There's a logo of AMD, get driver here: http://support.amd.com/en-us/download
It would be better check the label on you graphics card to get the exact model.

You may follow this guide:

(Additional help at the bottom of the thread.)

I have replaced thermal paste and updated graphics driver too..

But nothing's working.. :( still have
The same problem.. Now pc shuts down and the dram led flashes red and cpu led stays red..

Is it a bigger problem than expected??
Shd I try uninstalling photoshop or shd I change OS??

Do you mean vcore? If so that can't be correct as it should no be higher than say 1.5 volts. At 1.7 you would have a dead cpu.

The only accurate measure of cpu temp available for AMD processors is to download AMD Overdrive from AMD istelf. Look under the cpu tab and look at your "Thermal Margin". The higher the number there the better. As an example my 8320 overclocked to 4.5 GHz has a 40C thermal margin at idle. After running Prime 95 for an hour it will get the 18C thermal margin.

Sorry, it's there from the beginning.. I read the manual.
I am not sure if this will work but since it was came from repair. Try download bios in the internet, unzip (if ever), save it in usb or save it somewhere easy to find..
- try update bios either Asus Update (Windows), Asus EZ Flash (UEFI bios)...
