Hey guys,

Built a new system a few days ago and having some weird issues. Heres what happened.

Specs:
4790k
Gaming 5 gigabyte board
gskill 2133 16gb

1. Everything was fine after build for the first day. Set the cpu to 2.4 manually and ram to specified speed. Gamed quite a bit burning everything in. Finally played crisis 2 for quite a bit of time. Everything was fine.
2. Day 3, I start to get some crashes while gaming. Thought it was video card oc, so returned to stock, crashed again. Reset bios to stock, crashed again. Then it wouldn't get past the splash screen on start up. Reset CMOS a few times and same issue. It would be hard to even get into bios. If I was lucky enough to get into os it would run about 15 seconds then lock up.
3. Removed video card to rule that out. Started switching ram around. Same issue. Ran only one ram in another slot, same issue. Ran only the other dimm in another slot and seemed to act a tad bit better. Would still freeze when getting into the OS, but at least it was making it through the post.
4. On a whim, tried uping the voltage on DDR from 1.5 to 1.56 and it seems to be working fine. Here I am typing this running 8 gb still, but gamed a little bit and it seems fine.

Anyone had anything like this? Ran fine at stock voltage for a while then just decided to die? I haven't tried to run both sticks again yet, or run this stick over 1600.

Solution
You need to list what exact memory you bought but in general 2133 memory requires 1.6 or 1.65 volts to run the advertised speed so having to bump it a little past 1.5 for 1600MHz speed doesn't shock me.
