Hi,

I'm thinking about upgrading my i5 2500k to a 5820k, but I'm not sure what to expect as far as temperatures go.
What I'm wondering is mainly about idle temps at stock speed. Currently I'm running my 2500K@stock at around 33C with fans running very low. Can I expect anything near that or will I see a large increase in temperature even when idling, or just browsing the internet?

Solution
Yes, that would be where the difference full load. The TDP on the 2500k is 95W vs 140W for the 5820K, but unless your maxing out all 6 cores, I doubt the difference in temps would be all that much(running @ stock, OC is a different story)For instance, I'm typing this using a 5820K in an Asus X99-Deluxe. It's idling at 1.2ghz right now and running at 30-32C with the fan spinning at 600 RPM. I am using a Noctua NH-U14S cooler as the CPU itself does not include a heatsink in the box.

I'm still looking around, currently have my eyes on the asus x-99-s, but I haven't really familiarized myself with all the options yet.

So the temperature differences will mainly be seen in load or when overclocking?
