Power Supply Advice

I need to upgrade my Power supply as I am planning to get a more powerful graphics card.
Here is both the card I am getting my current computer specifications:

Gigabyte AMD Radeon 7970 HD

HP Pavilion p6-2388ea

I have 0 knowledge of PSU's so as much help as possible and any suggested PSU would be very much apreciated.

UPDATE

Does this power supply look like it will be compatable? im mostly worried I wont have enough cables to connect everything or something wont fit.

Corsair 600W

Someone has also recommended this PSU, would this be a better option than the Corsair?

If you want something cheap that works it, a EVGA 600W psu would do.
The card consumes quite much for the 300w that computer uses.

This one is cheap, if you want a powerful one then go for Corsair 750CSM

That's why the XFX 550 is usually the best quality replacement for hp.

It seems to only just about hit the power requirements though, would a EVGA 600W not be a preferable option?

the 550 will do just fine , for future "proofness" go for the 600 its upto you but the 550 will run that easlily with no probs and its an excellent psu

im running a 600watt and ive got 2 gtx660's and a power hungry fx6300 oc'd to 4.4 ,, so for that system a 550 should run all your components with ease

Sorry to bug about it, but are we certain that the 550 is compatible with the pc? as in has all the necessary connectors and such I am really worried that I will get one and find I am couple cables to short to power the pc.

A Radeon HD 7970 needs 30 amps on the 12v + rail and a 500 watt power supply with 1 - 6 pin and 1 - 8 pin PCIE power connections , the XFX 550W IS SUFFICIENT TO RUN YOUR SPECS.

So sorry about this, someone decided to buy that graphics card just before me, so searching for another one I found this.
SAPPHIRE HD 7970 3GB GDDR5

will that same 550 power supply be able be able to support this card? I think it needs extra cables to run it but I am unsure.
