Hey there,

I just wanted to keep this short and quick so there's not a bunch to read

I just got my new PC-

Specs:
CPU: INTEL® Core™ i7-5820K Six-Core @ 3.30 GHz
FAN: Corsair Hydro Series H55 Quiet Liquid Cooling system w/ 120mm Radiator
MEMORY: 16GB (4x4GB) DDR4/2133mhz Quad Channel Memory
MOTHERBOARD: Gigabyte X99-UD4 (Ultra Durable) LGA 2011-3
POWERSUPPLY: 700 Watts Power Supplies
VIDEO: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 4GB 16X PCIe 3.0 Video Card

-and I was wondering what overclock settings you guys would recommend for my CPU. I'm not looking for an extreme OC. If there is any additional information needed please let me know

I'm a beginner at OC'ing CPUs and so I am looking for a some guidance :)

Thanks

Hello... Yes, 1GHZ Overclock is typical... the temperature of your CPU is directly related to your inside case temperature too... So Watch your temperatures and run agressive CPU APPs programs too, Verify you are in safe comfortable Temp zone. But Yes, 4GHz should be attainable by you.
Hello... as a general "Law of Physics" The temperature of your CPU will dictate what Stable Overclock you will get on it. So having a temperature monitoring APP will be your best Tool for success. http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor/versions-history.html
Also understand the temperature and voltage Limits of the device you are going to Overclock... http://ark.intel.com/products/82932/
Also CPU-Z is another great fact/spec gathering APP http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z/versions-history.html
Most Websites, that do reviews of CPU's, also include the Overclocking success stories, and have the numbers you need already for you... http://www.anandtech.com/show/8426/the-intel-haswell-e-cpu-review-core-i7-5960x-i7-5930k-i7-5820k-tested/7
