Hey everyone, so at one point I was able to power up my pc with just touching my keyboard key or moving the mouse. And yes I mean it is in Shut Down state...

Now after hooking up my flight gear and changing all the usb settings to disable falling asleep, it somehow doesnt work. My PC is far under my desk...It's hard to reach under I almost have to crawl to power it on. I liked this Shut Down feature Windows 8 offered, since it was powered off but technically on enough to power back up.

Thanks for your help!

p.s. my mobo is an Asus Maximus VII Formula. i7-4790k intel. Thanks!

Restart to your Bios and set up your Wake up settings. I have mine set to wake up on Keyboard space bar only. I believe with Asus it's the Del key that you would hit during the boot up process to do so. You will also want to make sure your Suspend is on S3.

unfortunately I do not see this anywhere in the settings.

the only thing i see under boot is 'fast boot' which is enabled, and then USB support has partial initialization, and ps2/keyboad and mouse support is set on auto.

not sure if any of that has to do w anything but I do not see a setting for wake.

edit: I am thinking of the older board, will look up the new one
edit 2: ok it is still under the section called APM configuration.
uefi bios utility - advanced mode
then Advanced APM configuration.
make sure you have ErP disabled or I think it turns the USB ports fully off and you can not wake up the system with a USB keyboard or usb mouse.

Looks like it has different options than the old BIOS.
I would make sure ErP is disabled and configure the system with the windows control panel power management and see if that works.

sleep function in the BIOS are under APM configuration
Advance power management settings in the BIOS

I think powered on by ps./2 keyboard is disabled by default.

ok the ErP was already disabled, the other options were Restore AC Power Loss which is Power Off, Power On by PCI-E, Disabled, Power on BY RTC, Disabled. So this was already like this, keyboard nor mouse wakes the pc from a shutdown mode.

start control panel, locate device manager, select keyboards
find your keyboard, right click to bring up properties, click on the power management tab.
confirm the checkbox "allow this device to wake the computer" is selected

if you have a USB keyboard you might want to look at the power management setting for the USB port/hub and make sure it is not being powered down.

(it would be bad to have a keyboard to wake the computer to be on a USB hub that gets totally powered off during sleep)

so i did this too =/...what the heck is going on haha i've tried both going thru all IDE devices and especially the hardware tab for both mouse and keyboard power management settings...everything is set to awake when moved. Not sure if this still has to do with the bios. I notice my mouse and keyboard will light up when the PC is off, however they dont actually do anything..
