So my girlfriend got a new laptop and let me take apart the old one she hardly ever used. Inside is a Seagate 600 ST480HM000 2.5 SSD. On it is a copy of windows 8 and a few gigs of storage. I was wondering if I could put it in a desktop I want to build and what implications come along with it? So, will it work? How do I wipe an SSD? Where can I find connectors for a new motherboard since it was in a laptop? Please let me know if it is possible and what I can do.
Thanks for your help,
Evan.

It'll work fine. Just need a SATA cable and a power cable from the PSU. Any MB you buy should come with SATA cables. I recently took my Samsung 830 out of my desktop, installed a Samsung 840, put the 830 in my laptop, and put my laptop HDD in my desktop to dual boot windows 10.

The only thing you'll need is a 2.5in bay or a 2.5in adapter for your computer case.
