So I picked up a Sapphire R9 280 Dual-X the other day and so far it's ran great in most all games I've thrown at it except a couple. For some reason Battlefield 3/4 and Planetside 2 all run worse than they did on my old GTX 660. The games runs all around slower (where I could get 60-70 FPS on my 660 I get 50-30 on this new R9). I've tried just about everything from underclocking my CPU, to even doing a fresh install of Windows 8.1. For some reason my card just won't dish out for those games. Below is my build:

CPU: FX-8320 @ 4.5Ghz
RAM: Corsair Vegence 8GB (2x4GB) @ 1334Mhz
MOBO: Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3

Some games are better optimized to run on Nvidia cards than Radeon cards. It doesn't matter if you have the highest Radeon card in the market, A lower ranked Nvidia card can still ouperform it if the game manufacturers designed their games with the Nvidia architecture in mind.

i don't play BF but i do play Planetside 2. PS2 indeed is nvidia game but i think the problem is more because the game is DX9 based. i'm not sure if the problem has been resolved or not but in general AMD GCN have problem with DX9 based game in the past.

No, I've just decided to give those games a break until someone comes up with a solution.
