I have a Dell Optiplex GX620 to which I am trying to add a Zotac GeForce GT 730 GPU and have been caught in a catch 22. If I install the card and turn on the computer, as the accompanying instructions prescribe, I receive a BIOS message stating that my monitor is plugged into the wrong port and that I should turn off the computer change the plug, and restart. The CPU is at full stop leaving a shutdown the only thing you can do. I did that and only received a blank screen upon restart. This state cannot be passed by. There are two BIOS options concerning the monitor state at start up and neither allows this screen to be bypassed.

I then try to install the card drivers from the CD, without the card installed. This is not possible as it fails to find the card and comes to a hard stop. Download drivers directly from NVIDA site and manual install, no card - no luck. Try a manual install using the command prompt with ‘ /s’, no luck. As a despite last gasp I try a hot install, while the CPU is running and try to discover the card, no luck.

I also have done all variations of installation orders and attempts. There is something I am missing and it isn’t addressed on the NVIDA or ZOTAC Support sites.

Tldr; No monitor if card is installed, can’t install drivers unless card is installed.

Solution
Hi, I had the exact same issue today. Not sure if you found a solution or not. I have an Optiplex GX620 and wanted to upgrade to NVIDIA Geforce GT 610. When I put the card in I got the same message. So few things I did. First I upgraded my BIOS from A09 to A11. You know just in case... I then managed to go up to BIOS A11. After that I was still getting the same error message. So I realized that since the driver is not installed yet the card acts as a default VGA video card hence it is only the VGA output that gives you anything. I had the VGA completely removed due to the low profile PCI but you can connect the VGA back and put that in the second slot in the back of your PC. Connect your original VGA there and boot again. From here it...

From here it was simple, install NVIDIA Geforce and configure the card. I hope this helps....
