It seems impractical getting a $100 board?
Not really. There are some pretty good boards such as:
MSI Z97 PC Mate (combo with G3258 for $99; hope Micro Center still selling it)
Asrock Z97 Anniversary ATX
MSI Z97 Guard-Pro (with DisplayPort)
You missed the point. He means it doesn't make sense to spend a hundred bucks on a board when you're only spending 70 bucks on the CPU. I don't, however, entirely agree.
There are many features on a 100.00 board not present on cheaper models that make it worth having despite the 70.00 CPU being able to do what's needed including game pretty well. My thought is, ok, I've saved about a hundred bucks or more on the CPU, maybe I can afford to have a few extra features on the motherboard.
That being said, if cost is the main concern, one of those two budget boards fits the bill and you're still able to game admirably when overclocked and paired with a good card.
