I have a question for the experts about my current build vs the requirements listed here. I have a pentium g3258 Overclocked to 4.3ghz.

here is my current build:

CPU: Intel Pentium G3258 3.2GHz Dual-Core Processor (OC to 4.3ghz)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z97-HD3 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard
Memory: G.Skill Sniper 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Video Card: MSI Radeon R9 270 2GB TWIN FROZR Video Card
Case: Cougar Solution (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case
Power Supply: Rosewill Hive 550W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 (OEM) (64-bit)
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

Minimum requirements:

OS: Windows 7 or 8.1 64-bit
Processor (AMD): Quad core @ 2.5 GHz
Processor (Intel): Quad core @ 2.0 GHz
Memory: 4 GB
Graphics Card (AMD): Radeon HD 4870
Graphics Card (NVIDIA): GeForce 8800 GT
Graphics Memory: 512 MB
Hard Drive: 26 GB
Sound: DirectX 10: 512 kbps up and down

Recommended:

OS: Windows 7 or 8.1 64-bit
Processor (AMD): Six core @ 3.2 GHz
Processor (Intel): Quad core @ 3.0 GHz
Memory: 8 GB
Graphics Card (AMD): Radeon HD 7870 or R9 270
Graphics Card (NVIDIA): GeForce GTX 660
Graphics Memory: 2 GB
Hard Drive: 26 GB
Sound: DirectX 11: 1 mbps up and down

My system meets or exceeds the recommended hardware all but the processor. I will only be running Dragon Age Inquisition at 1600x900 since that is the max my monitor will go(its a bit older than my other stuff).

I have no idea how the pentium g3258 @ 4.3ghz compares to a quad core at 2 or 3ghz listed in the requirements. Does anyone know how my system should handle this?

Thanks

The game needs a quad as do quite a few newer games. The only way to know for sure is to try it or wait until the game is released and see how it does on similar systems. My guess is it will not perform very well.

Minimum requirements are just that. The minimum. Not the minimum to run at max settings. Recommended requirements usually will usually allow high settings but even then maybe not max.

And that site is practically useless as anything but a very broad baseline.

Looks like i might have to wait and see and possibly look into an upgrade for a christmas present from the wife. lol.
hopefully i can run it decently to start out at least. I can run dragon age origins and tomb raider on max setting with steady 60fps most times, so i should be at least in the ball park.

I have an intel pentium dual core 2.80 ghz and the new dragon age acts normal until i get to the main menu and i just get a black screen with the menu music in the background lol.. and I checked my cpu while the game was running and it was literally using 100% of my cpu..so I'm pretty sure you have to have a quad core regardless of the ghz, i just ordered a old standard intel 2 Quad core 2.5 ghz from ebay...either way its a step up..
