Why is my hard drive's performance so slow?

Lately I've noticed that Windows 7 (64-bit Professional) is extremely slow to start up, and I just can't figure out why. I have used 124 GB out of 465 GB on the drive (Roughly 27%).
Solutions I've tried:
-Defragmenting (Fragmentation level is now 1%)
-Cleaning with CCleaner
-Windows Update
-Deleting large unnecessary files
-Uninstalling unused programs with Revo Uninstaller
-Firmware & BIOS updates
-Resetting BIOS settings (Except operation mode, which is AHCI w/ properly installed drivers)
-Startup repair
-System file check
-Repair install
One thing that concerns me is the fact that this hard drive is a 6-year-old Samsung HD501LJ.
Here's my system specs: AMD FX-6300 processor, Nvidia GTX 650 overclocked, Gigabyte 78LMT-USB3 motherboard in AHCI mode, Samsung HD501LJ Hard drive, Windows 7 Professional 64-bit, 8GB Ballistix sport RAM at 1600 MHz, and a 550-Watt Power supply.

Oh and also, I've scanned for viruses/malware. None were found. I scanned with Avast (startup scan) and Spybot: Search & Destroy. Also, I've scanned the disk for errors, using chkdsk.exe, and all errors were repaired. Still no difference in performance.

if oyur drive is 6 years old then you must be using IDE instead of SATA, This will cause a difference in performance, Old drives tend to lose speed after years. I had a 10 year old laptop not to long ago that hard drive died after being very slow...All of your other PC specs are good, maybe it's just time for a Hard Drive upgrade in my opinion

I am using a SATA connection. There is no IDE connector on my hard drive. It uses SATA power and a SATA connector.
