I fix computers in my free time and I was working with a hard drive to extract some data that someone lost. I made a stupid mistake and I forgot to safely eject it and just took it out. Now the problem is is reconnects for like a 10th of a second at a time randomly and and it also makes sounds that sound like the disk is breaking sometimes. I really need help!!

(Also please no rude comments about me forgetting to safely eject the hard drive I know it is stupid.)

Solution
Hi there tyc2014,

You can start by changing the USB cable. Sometimes HDDs make weird noises when not enough power is supplied by the cable as well.
Though, if this does not solve the issue, the problem may be more serious.
You can try connecting it directly through SATA(keep in mid that this may void warranty if any).

Hope this will help,
