Ethernet Connection Problems.

So currently I am at a University with it's own private network. My desktop was connected to this network before via ethernet, but suddenly three days ago, my Local Area Connection kept failing to authorize the connection. Every time i tried to reconnect there would be a small popup stating that "Windows cannot connect to this network."

EDIT: Also when i ping to google's public DNS server it says that I have internet, but it's still not authorized so nothing works.

The first thing is to check the cable. Get one you know is good.

are you using windows 8,8.1,7? You should have some geeks on campus. For a few bucks and or a few beers they will get err dun.

From Start go to control panel. Then go to network sharing center.
What does it say for network and then to the right for connections.the network should have a name maybe public.
connection should be local area network xx something

It says Network and under it says "Home network" and on the right it says Local Area Connection
But when i goto adapter settings it says Authorization Failed under Local Area Network

Is there a number with the LAC?
