Are my temps too high?

Hi!

When I play BF4 with my 7970 and r9 280x in crossfire, I am getting really high temps. Gpu 1 which is an MSI r9 280x runs at an average of 81-83 Celsius and my second card which is a gigabyte 7970 OC runs around 67 Celsius.
The gigabyte temps aren't too bad ,but I'm really concerned about my MSI hitting 80 + . Are those normal temps for a 280x? Will my GPU last a long time running at these temps? What can I do to cool my cards more effectively? I do have my cpu liquid cooled ,but should I also hook up my 280x to the loop ,or is there another method to cool it?

Thanks in advance :)

Solution
No, your GPU life will decrease substantially at those temps! any temp above 70 is going into the danger zone. Do you have good cooling in your case? And are you over clocking?

obviously lower is better, but 80C is not unusual for a GPU. The new R9-290's are "designed" to run at 95C and they use the same silicon. So I wouldn't be too worried.

Put the coolest card on top and put a fan at the end of the cards blowing along them.

Do you have a 1 slot gap between the cards or are they nearly touching?

Thanks for the reply!

No, I do not overclock. and I do have good cooling in my opinion and have side and top exhaust fans and rear and front intake. Side fan is a 300mm thermaltake fan and isn't the fastest fan around. So I wonder if it just can't get the hot air out fast enough.
But ya, I am used to temperatures in the 60's and temps in the 80's scare me a little bit.

I do have a 1 slot gap between the cards so I would say at least an inch and a quarter gap. I think I'll try that out and put a fan at the end of the cards. Hopefully that will help somewhat. :)

I am aware about the high temps the r9 series is able to handle especially with the stock cooler.I remember reading of all the buzz with the 290x hitting 97. But still, 82 Celsius is a still a little high for my taste.
