Hi, we are trying to setup our computer for playing back 3d blu ray content to our sony 3d tv. We will be buying a gt 610 video card soon to provide hdmi 1.4 to the tv. Only thing holding us back is that our surround sound system only has hdmi 1.3.

Would it be possible to use the motherboards hdmi to output 5.1ch audio to the surround sound while at the same time using the video card to output straight to the tv?

Solution
Hello... all newer versions of HDMI's 1.x are backward compatable.
When it comes to surround sound or Audio settings, you need to match the audio settings to your SONY input settings...Typically most TV's only include a Stereo Analog audio input connector. check your TV manual for any AUX Digital INPUT Audio Connector, Match the connector type needed to your Computer. Enable and adjust the Digital Output, Set the freq and bit level, in the Windows Sound APP.
