Replacing USB Connector?

Hello,

Long story short, I accidentally ruined my computer's USB 3.0 port. I was trying to test the current and accidentally connected what I believe to be 5V and D- with the multimeter.

Windows indicated a power surge and shut down. The port no longer works with any I/O devices like flash drives and mice but charges my phone so I think just the D- is messed up. I really need a USB port so I plan to replace the port with a new connector. Should I worry about motherboard damage and, if so, how can I tell if it is damaged (preferably before I buy a new connector and solder it in)?

What I have tried so far:
1. Restarted computer
2. Tried to look through BIOS but could not find any option that worked
3. Checked Device Manager - no errors, drivers up to date, uninstalled and reinstalled USBs
4. Checked Event Viewer - no events related to plugging in a device

My computer is an Acer Iconia W700. Does anyone know which connector in particular I need? There are a lot of different types and it is hard to tell which one has the correct dimensions.

Thank you!

Solution
It is unlikely that it's the port - it's just a bunch of wires.

More likely is a fuse or other sacrificial component on the motherboard, usually immediately adjacent to the port.
