I just found out that my hp deskjet 5150 will not print banners. Even though there's a setting for banner paper, it will not print them. It only prints single sheets. I have never had a problem printing banners with any other HP printer. Had I known this I would never had bought this model. Do I need to download some drivers to remedy this? Can't get in contact with anyone from HP support. Is there even such a thing as customer support anymore? Has anybody solved this problem? My OS is Windows XP. Thanks.

Thanks so much for your reply. I installed my printer and drivers from the installation CD that came with the printer when I bought it, about eight years ago. Never searched for any other drivers because the 5150 has always performed beautifully, except now with banners. Thanks for the link. There may have been some updates since then. I'll check it out and get back to you.

Sounds good. Hope it helps resolve the issue. If not, we can pursue other solutions. Make sure to do a FULL install of the application. Choosing a custom install and not installing some features could be the cause of it not wanting to print banners.

Hi. I've tried everything under the sun. I've done a complete uninstall and reinstall of the printer - TWICE, and downloaded drivers. Nothing has changed. Problem is, in the Print Properties selection box there's no way to over ride the paper size; 8½ X 11. The only choice presented is HP Banner Paper 8½ X 11. The only other option is between Portrait and Landscape. Consequently, you only get ONE letter size page, regardless of the actual length of the banner. The whole setup is insane and impossible. I don't care WHAT HP claims, this printer CAN NOT PRINT BANNERS. Something must have gone wrong writing the program for its software. Furthermore, I have yet to hear from anyone who has ever printed a banner with this model, no matter what site I've posted this problem on. I get a lot of advice on how it HP SAYS it should work, but not one person who can verify that it HAS worked. Add me to that list. But thanks a lot for trying to help.

No problem. Sorry to hear that. I used to be a loyal HP printer purchaser but they just got shittier and shittier over the years. I finally gave up and went back to Epson who I used to use back in the late 80's and early 90's and have never had a significant issue since. Good luck with whatever you end up doing. Again, sorry about the bad luck and lack of HP support. Maybe we'll drive by the soup kitchen and see a few ex-HP execs in the line someday due to their roughshod customer service. One can only hope.

Thanks. I've always been exceedingly happy with the quality of HP printers. I'm a graphic artist and all of my Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator work prints beautifully with HP products. I've never had a problem printing banners, or anything else, with other HP printers. And this one, the 5150 Deskjet, has performed equally as well, except for this banner problem. I'm still a die-hard fan of the brand. But next printer, I'll put it through its paces right out of the box so I can identify any problems immediately and return it. Hey, live and learn! Blessings, Sharon
