I am search Asus SABERTOOTH 990FX/GEN3 R2.0 anywhere online shopping but nothing found. I want PCI-e 3.0 with AMD FX 8370 for future proof... I always thought about buy Intel i7 but after I learn about SABERTOOTH 990FX/GEN3 R2.0 which it support pci-e 3.0. Because AMD FX 8370 cpu is more afford ha!

Did Asus decide to stop make this (SABERTOOTH 990FX/GEN3 R2.0) motherboard?Just wonder! If so, I guess I will buy Intel i7 4790k instead...

LMK Thanks!

Solution
PCIE 2.0 and 3.0 are pretty much equal.

I see... ok.

Asus SABERTOOTH 990FX/GEN3 R2.0 is not stable? ok
I think I better get intel because of better feature I guess.

One thing, I just wonder why not AMD make FX 8370 for FM2+ socket? This will help customer choice any of those cpu's (APU, non-APU CPU and CPU FX type) I don't understand AMD's way.
I read some article about PCI-e 4.0 rumor... does this mean nothing? look at PCI-e 2.0 and 3.0 are in similar performance.

Thank you for replied!

FX series processors have TDPs of between 95-125W. The flagship A10 8890K APU yet to be released is rumored to have a 95W TDP. The FM2+ socket can't supply the FX chips with enough power even if the pin-outs matched. The AM3+ socket is designed for backwards compatibility with AM3 CPUs as well like AM2/AM2+. Eventually the FX line and APUs might use the same socket but probably not for a while. Also PCIe3.0 won't make a difference unless you are going 3 or 4 way Crossfire/SLI.
