How do I fix the wireless connection?

My laptop wireless button is red and everything that's wireless is working, except my laptop? My laptop wireless connection is red and its showing no connection and I cant understand why?
Called Att, not on there end it's my obsolete hp laptop according to HP tech.

Sounds like you disabled your wireless. Look for a switch to turn it back on, may be a function key like Ctr + F7 or something.

I did touch it came home and it was like that, tried that buttin and tower button, but still nothung.

So all the hardware WiFi switches are on? Once you verify they are, check in Device Manager and make sure the wireless card does not show any errors.
