Basically i want to max games in 1080p for 2-3 years from now. Is a ZOTAC GeForce GTX 770 AMP! Edition 2 GB enough for this or should i aim at Radeon R9 290 Tri-X OC Version SAPPHIRE 4 GB? The reason i stated these 2 cards is because in my country atm there is nothing else better. GTX 770 costs 487$ in my country and r290 costs 611$. Its very expensive, but i don't have an other option. Is it worth paying the extra 124$?

P.S. is a 550w psu enough for either of those?

GTX 970 is about 15-20% faster than R9 290 at stock clock when overclocked it can reach the speed similar to R9 290x plus not only this its cheap very power efficient 145 watt TDP only and comes with new features installed by nvidia like DSR (Dynamic Super Resolution) in short with that technology you can play at 4k quality with a 1080p display http://www.geforce.com/whats-new/articles/maxwell-architecture-gtx-980-970 so its a catch.

Which make/model psu is it? In 3 years the gtx 770 will probably run games fine with medium settings at 1080p. r9 290 would do a bit better, of course.

Are we talking about USD? If so, those are some salty prices indeed.

I know a brand determines a higher quality, but i think its dumb to think it somehow won't last because of that. Anyway, its a german brand Xilence. Still no one said, is it worth the extra 124$ to buy a 290, since the benchmarks don't offer a legit comparison.

That sucks anyway r9 290 is much better than gtx 770 .
R9 290 is more faster than the gtx 780 in performance and benchmarks also it comes with 4 gb vram so there is no comparison between gtx 770 and the r9 290.
Waiting for 2 month is upto you but i would for a better card.
And 550 watt PSu would be very tight for both of the card i personally would not use any thing less than 650 watt for either of the card.

Ok, final answer. I don't know when exactly will gtx 970 appear on the market in my country, but is it worth the wait if it will cost the same as r9 290 or even higher or its just a tech master race no one will ever surpass?
