Hi all, I can't seem to find an answer to this anywhere (the almighty Google simply returns posts relating to 1866 RAM in a 1600-compatible motherboard). I currently have 1x8GB Corsair Vengeance 1600 (10-10-10-27) RAM in a Gigabyte 970A-UD3P mobo with an FX-8320 processor. There's someone in my area selling a stick of 1x8GB Corsair Vengeance 1866 (9-9-9-24) RAM on the cheap.

Can I run both of these sticks in dual channel if I manually set the RAM frequency to 1600 and timings to 10-10-10-27 (speed/timing of the slower stick)? Would there be compatibility issues?

Thanks!

It's impossible to say. Even identical sticks don't always play nice together. That's why they're sold in sets.
That said, if you want to maximize your chances then the way you described is exactly what you should do. There are just no guarantees.
