scan a picture

Solution
Assuming you're on Windows XP, if you have a scanner, make sure it is connected properly and fire up the Scanner and Camera Wizard, which is in the Accessories folder under All Programs in the start menu. Follow the instructions in the wizard. You'll need to specify a location to save the file, which you'll need for later. Once you've gone through the wizard, open your Word document and hit Insert -> Image (or Picture, depending on your version.) Then, you can manipulate the image like any other within the document.
