I recently replaced the CPU heatsink and fan. When I put the new part back in and went to turn the PC on only the led light on the case turns on. Nothing else powers on, not the fans, not LEDs inside the case. From my research it says a dead mobo but the mobo is less than 2 weeks old and the PC was working prior to me changing the heatsink. I checked all the connections from PSU to mobo and everything seemed fine. Any ideas on how I can fix this? Or if I need a new mobo? I hope not because I literally ordered and built this PC less than two weeks ago

Alright before I wanted to take my pc apart I tried moving RAM slots. When I went to power the PC on again by pressing the power button on the LED case, I hear a noise coming from inside the case like it is trying to power on. I switched outlets and pressed the power button and again same noise. Sounds like its maybe coming from the PSU but I can't be sure. Should i still take apart my PC and test the mobo outside of the case? Or is it something different?

so I have tested the mobo outside the case. It powers on for maybe 3 seconds before resetting itself. Fans for the PSU and the CPU do power on as well. What's next?

Ok, I reseated the heatsink and fan but again still resetting. However when i reseated the heatsink and fan it appears that only one side of the heatsink is fully touching the cpu. And when i try to push the pins all the way into the mobo only two of the four pins actually lock into place. Should I buy another heatsink and fan and try to reinstall in order to get the heatsink fully touching the cpu?

Processor: Intel Core i5-4690K Devil's Canyon Quad-Core 3.5GHz LGA 1150 Desktop Processor BX80646I54690K

mobo: GIGABYTE GA-Z97X-Gaming 3 LGA 1150 Intel Z97 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

some of my friends think that i may have a short on the mobo. Do you think that is a possible problem that i could be getting?
