I have seen many people say the opposite. It is so open that you need REALLY loud and powerful fan to actually circulate air properly. I know a few people personally that have issues with it.

Both cases have good airflow. The problem with an open case is that openness DOES NOT mean cooler. Proper circulation of air means cooler. In a relatively closed case it is easy for a few fans to move air smoothly through the case. But with a very open case, you need more and faster moving fans to move circulate the same amount of air. You have the opportunity to move MORE air, but at the expense of noise.

The air 540 has a direct airflow path and ease of build and I prefer it due to the H440 having many problems.
You will need to buy a PSU dust filter with the air 540, silver stone makes some magnetic ones.
