i apparently need to update my bios for my gpu to work. however when i went to update it, it says that there is no root folder ? i downloaded the file from msi and then unzipped it and extracted it to the usb and then went to do a bios update and it say no root files found ?

quite a few msi bios flash issues here at toms may better do some good reading up on it and check hard at msi for notes or how to do's

look at the ones I answered and see if I put links to msi that covered this some were hard to find like they hid them or they seemed hard to read but as you see your not alone on that

msi seems to have a crap flash method or tool and looks to be more at risk then others when needing to flash
as stated bios flash is always a at your own risk and should only be done if theres a issue or a newer hardware support not covered in the older bios [if it anit broke don't fix it ]

If your USB is not on FAT32, format it to FAT32 and put the files for the new update in there. Restart your computer and go to the UEFI BIOS, you should see a button there to flash your BIOS. I would know because I've got an MSI motherboard too.

well as I see it its a sad deal with msi and bios flashing they seem to have a few issues on that
