Laptop ram confusion

hello. I am trying to upgrade my laptop ram but I am confused as to what ram I have to install. The stick of ram it has right now is a pc3-10600s-999. I look them up on google but the only thing that comes up is pc3-10600s ram sticks. Are both of those compatible?

My computer is a HP g7-1167dx

In the past I've only ever had grief adding even slightly differing RAM to a laptop. I do see advertisements offering RAM with exactly the same specifications. Depending on your price sensitivity to failure, you may want to consider getting what appears to be identical RAM.

Note that if you peruse the HP specifications for that laptop (http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02834058.pdf) you will observe that the manual differs in what it specifies as the memory. Which is strange.
