You have a dell. It is a proprietary board made to their standards, not to the standards used by other motherboard makers.
So not all memory will work correctly when Installed in a Dell Mobo. I know this from having and working on dell products.
This means you need to hunt for memory that is guaranteed to work in your mobo. You cannot expect just any ram to work.
If your board has 4 slots an will max out at 8GB likely you can put in 4x2GB.this would be two Matched sets or kits.
Your mobo may very well not be designed to accept a 4GB module. You cannot mix and match memory and expect it to work. Some people get lucky. So you should endeavor to place 4 x 2GB of 2 matched sets if not four of the same 2GB modules. In your board if it is like most dells with 4 slots to get the use of dual channel modules you can load 1x1GB,
2x2GB, 2X4GB. If not your memory will only run as single channel. If it runs correctly.
