Hi! Will the Gtx Titan run Shadows of mordor on ultra better because it has 6gb gpu memory and 970 only has 4gb.

Anyway which card would you recommend overall?
I can buy a new gtx titan for the same price as a new gtx 970.

Thanks,
Alex

The titan is a much better card. I think that many people would have recommended the 970 not due to its superior performance (because there is none) but due to its much more reasonable price, and the ability to sli it for less than a titan. You should be fine with your card though.

The titan will run it better but less because it has more ram and more because it has more transistors. However, if your going to compare a 1k card and a 350 dollar card, you should consider putting 2x970s in SLI, which would likely perform better than 1 titan by itself, and for a total of around 700 dollars, would still be several hundred dollars less than a titan.

Titans are for high end users that need things like double precision and things like that. For 90 percent of users, the 970, or 2x970s in SLI, is a much wiser investment.

Failing that, you could even go with 2x780ti's or 2x980s. You'd get much more performance for a few hundred dollars more than 1 titan.

I boughed the Gtx Titan, since I might do some video editing too, and the extra vram just made it seem worth it.

Was that stupid? Is there some major drawbacks on that card vs 970? Or is it just small differences?

I dont mind the extra power consumption and Im using it for Hackintosh too so I thought it would be à safer choice.

To be honest, the GTX 970 is a better card. Newer technology like MFAA, VXGI, DSR. Newer architecture which draw less power which is only 145watt TDP for GTX 970, and actually faster for gaming than GTX Titan. GTX 970 also overclocks like a champ due to its efficient power usage which kept the temp cool.

GTX Titan will be the better card ONLY if you have any use of the double-precision that comes with it. Otherwise, nah.

But any of them should be powerful enough to deliver good FPS on 1080p resolution on most games. :)
