question about M.2 Type 2280 128GB SATA 6Gb/s MLC Internal Solid State Drive

I have an asus z-97a board and it has this connector on the middle of the motherboard for this (link below) type 2280. My question is, if I buy a 128gb, will it be a separate hard drive, or can I keep my normal hard drive and just plug this in and it'll run normal things faster and use my hdd faster together?

Well it'll be a separate hdd but it can also use 2 SATA ports for its bandwidth

How would I set it up in raid to work with my 500gb 7.2krpm hard drive. working together would it be a lot faster?

is there any difference between that and a normal ssd with a cable? cause that would be cheaper

It would or should be faster, but as I said it can or will also use 2 SATA ports for its bandwidth.
